Physicians in Hawaii demanding up to $1200 a day to be on call

Please take the time to read this article. It is practices like this that are pushing the cost of healthcare higher and higher. The practices of physicians immensely impact the cost of health care, and most facilities go to the very end to keep the docs happy, as in the lexicon of health care it is the docs who are seen as the ones who bring in the cash to a facility. Nurses on the other hand are simply seen as a cost because of the labor costs associated with nurses. Yet without nurses there is no health care.

Hawaii, like any other state, has both medicare and medicaid coverage for it's people. It is your tax dollars that pay for the program. Are you impressed with your money ultimately going to pay for a doc to be on call for $1200 a day?
